Monthly Meetings
Meetings are held on the last Monday of each month, from February to November, at the Victorian Artists Society. We have been meeting in this iconic space for almost 50 years.
Our meetings combine a short business component that includes an update on current activities available to members, along with a session designed to inform and inspire. We have demonstrations from guest artists, interesting talks or an information sessions related to the watercolour medium (including manufacturers).
Meetings are for members only or invited guests.

AUSTRALIAN WATERCOLOUR TREASURES
IN THE ART GALLERY OF BALLARAT
The Art Gallery of Ballarat opened in 1884 as the Ballarat Fine Art Gallery and now houses a collection of over 11,000 works including a large collection of fine Australian Watercolours.
Many of the works relate to the Ballarat District – Regional Art – from Colonial Art, capturing the history of Ballarat to works produced by Artists with a local Ballarat connection such as David Davies, Nornie Gude and members of the Lindsay family.
For the Maurice Callow Lecture 2024, Andrew Mackenzie has chosen 70 of these Australian Watercolour Treasures from this collection to present to the WSV members.
In all there are 45 Waterclourists represented, 12 females and 33 males.
This will be a rare opportunity for WSV members to view hidden gems by artists such as Blamire Young, Reginald Ward Sturgess, Harold Herbert, William Tibbits, Jesse Jewhurst Hilder, Christian Waller, Eliza Blyth, Emma Minnie Boyd to name but a few.
An evening not to be missed as it promises many surprises of works seldom seen.
